Outdoor Learning Challenges.

29th June 2020 ( Days 53-60) – This will be the last Themed weeks of this term and hopefully the last session of ‘Online Outdoor Learning’. As such we wish to celebrate all things Adventure. Whatever you get up to, do it safely and with a parents permission first.

Here are some ideas of things you may think about……..

Have a local adventure, Plan an adventure for when lock-down is lifted, Look back over past adventures, what made them special?, take a walk, take a bike ride, explore somewhere new, get wet and muddy in stream, find nature, take time out to to reflect. Write about adventures, create a poem on adventure….

Let us know how you have got on in the usual ways.

Have a great summer holiday, take care and we look froward to seeing you in 2020/21. From The Patterdale Team, Steve Bradley (BD) and Emma Lindle (GD).

7/6/2020 – A change in model!

Patterdale Hall Summer Holiday CoursesWe’ve listened to feedback from our followers over just how much work and challenges our students have to contend with at the moment and we don’t wish to add any pressure on top of that. Our challenges should be enjoyable and engaging. As such we are going to change to a model that prompts a weekly theme for getting outdoors. Last week was naturally cycling and students and staff contributed to the JOGLE return trip. Well done to all involved.

As you undertake these themes with your friends and family, please think about the risks and minimise them, follow all latest COVID protocols, only do things with permission of your adults and enjoy your time outside. Stay Safe!

Week Commencing:

8th June 2020 (Days 38-42) – This week is all about NATURE. The parks, fields, woods and verges are full of wonderful things to see and hear. Try and get out and about this week and take the time to stop and look, listen and feel in and around these spaces.

What do you notice? What do you hear? How many different species can you identify?

Take only photographs, leave only footprints. Please share your findings with us. Email: enquiries@patterdalehall.org.uk or tag us on twitter. @patterdale_hall or @boltonoutdoor

Have a great week.

15th June 2020 (Days 43-47) – Well done on such a great effort with the Nature Week. The theme for this week is Outdoor Cooking and Outdoor Eating. What creative dishes can you come up with cooked in your garden? Can you find some food for free (take care and be sure!)?

NB – PLEASE, NO disposable BBQ’s or fires in the wild places and woodlands around you. These present a significant fire risk.

Take only photographs, leave only footprints. Please share your findings with us. Email: enquiries@patterdalehall.org.uk or tag us on twitter. @patterdale_hall or @boltonoutdoor

Have a great week.

22nd June 2020 (Days 48-52) – Well done on all the outdoor cooking last week. Thanks for sharing your photographs. This week the theme is ‘The Great Outdoors – Photography’ . Think about taking photos that are linked with your school subjects, Biology, Physics, Art, Geography etc. How many links can you make? Find some local history, some mathematical links, capture nature at its best, or most vulnerable.

So get outside, see and look, sense and feel, record and enjoy. Please share you photos with us by twitter @boltonoutdoor or @patterdale_hall or by email to MFoxMakin@boltonschool.org

There will be a small prize for the best photo submitted, so get snapping and sending. Stay safe out there!
